Secretary's
Report: Approved
Treasurer's Report:
Approved.
Committee
Reports:
Negotiations:
- The Board will notify us when they are ready to
start negotiations for the Paras and Security
guards.
Grievance:
- One grievance has been postponed.
Social:
- Deb Carty will be planning another deli trip
either the end of April, or beginning of May. More
information will be forthcoming.
- If you know of anyone who has retired or is
retiring, please send the names and addresses to Barb
Aldefer. The retirement dinner will be the first
Thursday in June. The location has not been selected
as of yet.
Ed Council:
- There still hasn't been any meetings scheduled.
There are supposed to be four meetings held a year.
President's Report:
- The lowest bid to clean the field after the
bonfire is $70,000.00.
Old Business:
- NJEA Climate Survey: Around 82% took part in this.
We are hoping that we will have the results back by
the next executive meeting.
- The Board now has all the corrections for the
teachers contract. We are just waiting to hear from
the Board.
New Business:
- NEA Delegates to the RA. We are allowed 4
delegates. If you are interested you must let George
know by February 1st.
- Pension increase of 2%: You can figure this by
taking your gross salary and times it by .02. This is
not actually an increase, this is actually returning
to the original 5%, what it was a few years ago when
there was a surplus.
- State Unemployment insurance: From January through
May they take $10.00 out of each pay.
- The state will not fully fund the pension from
what they borrowed in the surplus. NJEA is filing suit
with the state, that if we must fully fund, they have
to fully fund.
- New School Day: Bus routes were worked out and the
students will be starting February 2nd.
There are some time changes for some secretaries and
full time aides. Pam Niles has said that some of the
secretaries might have a case because of past
practice.
- ESP conference: A motion was made by Chuck Nowalk
to send 4 Support Staff members to the conference in
New Brunswick on February
27th-29th. The motion passed.
Two members were approved. If you are interested, let
George know.
Building concerns
- With the longer student day there are some areas
that have to be worked on. Preps for the specials, is
one area that is being looked into. We will cite past
practice that their preps be a continuous time.
- The lack of staff attending the Board
meetings.
Next meeting February 10, 2004
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Shober
