Amended: (Chuck Nowalk) Not to spend more than $3,000.00 for screened t-shirts. Passed There are 551 members.
  2. If you do not have any emergency or personal days left, you have to pre-file a written request that has to be approved by Gordon before you can take the time. If you are too distraught to perform your duties, you can get a note from your doctor and take a sick day.
  3. Summer Leadership Barb Alderfer and Marilyn Shober will be attending

New Business:

  1. 100 Hours -Time is Ticking If you do not have your 100 hours by September 2005, there will be sanctions taken against you, such as:
    • letter of reprimand
    • loss of increment
    • pathway 1 to do a portfolio
    • conduct unbecoming a teacher

George will ask for a record of anyone who is in jeopardy

  2. NJEA has joined with the Board against the state for them to pay the 7 % of the teachers raise.
  3. Motion (Barb Alderfer) That the association put it in writing that the grievance chair can go to non-binding arbitration for the welfare of the secretaries (seconded by Chuck Nowalk) motion carried

Building concerns:

  1. Would like for George to compile statistics on number of years of service for those who have been accused and escorted from the buildings. George will check with Pam Niles for this.
  2. Secretaries should not be left with students at the end of day. George will look into this.
  3. Comp time or a sub for the specials teachers for the art and music shows? One suggestion is to check with their SMT to see if there is money for this. They should document the hours and put in a bill form.
  4. Results from the school board elections out of the 7 districts, 6 of them passed, 1 lost by 8 votes. Thanks to Chuck for all his hard work in getting the letters out.

Next meeting June 8, 2004

Respectfully submitted,

Marilyn Shober
