Treasurer's Report: approved.

  1. Negotiations: Paras have a tentative agreement, it will be voted on Wednesday and Thursday.
  2. Grievance: Meeting on October 25th at 3:30-4:30 at PMS

Old Business:

  1. Mike has the APD forms for payroll deductions. Send the filled out forms to Mike. You can check off the "other" amount and make it for $1.00 if you wish.
  2. Barb mentioned that at the Summer Breakfast meeting, it was discussed about what we were going to do with the survey results from last year. George will bring about 5 copies per building to be placed in each school.
  3. Last year the Executive Committee asked for a survey about if there was a trend in who was getting written up, etc. George does not see a pattern about any age group, only those who if they did something wrong, they got into trouble.
  4. If you are called into the office, first make sure if this could have an impact on your employment. Take a rep along if needed. Do not offer any information. Your rep will contact George or Barb. Weingarten Rights

New Business:

  1. Workshop at Flynn's on Oct. 19th. This is free and there are several workshops you can sign up for.
  2. PEA Disaster Fund- Our charter does not allow us to give money. We could set up a fund, but then it would be extremely hard to manage fairly. Each building does a great job of getting help to those members who need assistance.
  3. PEA Mortgage Program: Nova Star is a mortgage broker. They are offering some discounts to our members who would be interested. If we accept this offer, there would be a disclaimer that the PEA does not endorse them. A motion was made by Mike to pursue the PEA Mortgage Program. It passed. More information will be forthcoming.
  4. George received a letter from Gordon stating that he would like to hire webmasters in each building. A stipend will be paid. The rate still has to be determined. The positions will be posted. A motion was made to pursue the web master positions. Discussion: They will discuss responsibilities, job descriptions to they can be included in the postings. Passed.
  5. Warren County: New teachers clam bake on October 26th at Flynn's
    1. 4:00 - Registration
    2. 4:30 - Begins
    3. 6:00 - Clam Bake

If you plan on attending, notify George Chilmonik by October 22nd.

  6. NJEA Convention: There is a bus trip on November 4th. The hospitality suite will be at the Borgatta again. The bus will leave PHS at 6:30 am and Warren Tech at 7:00 am. Contact Sue Brooks if you are interested.

Building concerns:

  1. Paras are having a workshop on October 27th. They are supposed to be at the Board office at 12:00. Many people do not get out of work until 12:25. What are they supposed to do about a lunch?
  2. There is some concern about the elections being done in some schools while students are present. In today's world, some people have concerns if this is a good idea.
  3. T-shirts scholarship: Joan Ricker will get a committee together to come up with the criteria for this project.
  4. Teachers conferences. The contract states that there is a 4-hour max with student contact. The times need to be adjusted. This has been brought up at Ed Council.
  5. Family Leave: George needs more information if increments are being withheld for maternity leaves.

Next meeting November 9, 2004

Respectfully submitted
