A rundown of some of the run-ins between Gordon Pethick and the school board: Oct. 23, 2006: Board President Paul Rummerfield accuses Pethick of trying to hold up hiring of a board labor attorney. Pethick denies the accusation. Nov. 13, 2006: Pethick said he feels like he is being "set up," citing rumors that he is holding up the teachers' contract negotiations. Rummerfield responds by saying, "If you have a personal gripe, keep it personal." January: Town council President David DeGerolamo accuses Pethick and former board President Rod Pianelli of making material changes to Pethick's contract without board consent. Pethick said his contract is a form document he got from the state administrators' association. Rummerfield said the board did not know about the changes. April: Board member Kevin DeGerolamo and teachers union President Barbara English blast Pethick for what they call bogus ethics charges against DeGerolamo. The board places a ceremonial no-confidence vote in Pethick in regards to contract negotiations. May 14: The board defies Pethick's recommendation and votes not to renew Andover-Morris Principal Jeanette Gilliland's contract. Pethick calls the move a disgrace and said it sets a bad precedent. |
