Jim Kaulius

My name is Jim Kaulius and I am a candidate for the office of vice-president of the PEA. I am a mathematics teacher at the high school and have been active in the local Association from before I even received tenure in the district. For over 20 years, I have served the Association as a representative, treasurer, grievance chairperson, chief negotiator and author of many of the salary guides for our membership over the past two decades.

My objective in running for office at this time is to assist George Chilmonik in advancing the goals and objectives of our profession at a time when education is constantly in the public view, both locally and nationally. I hope that I can count on your support.

Debbie Carty

I'm Debbie Carty. I am a literacy teacher at Freeman Elementary and I am running for Vice-President of PEA. I'd like to give a few reasons why I am qualified for this position. I have taught twenty six years in the district. For the last twenty three years I have been actively involved with PEA, first as a building rep., fifteen years as recording secretary and currently I am Corresponding secretary of our association. Currently I am on the PEA social committee and have been actively involved over several years planning and organizing our PEA retirement dinner. I am on our district Ed council, district classroom management initiative, and paper work committee. I served on our negotiation committee with four different contracts. Also, recently served on the committee to rewrite the constitution and by-laws, and have attended NJEA Leadership conferences. I have also been a member of our building Site Management Team for over ten years, two terms as chairperson. Also, I had an active role on the district Whole School Reform Committee. Took part in Project Zero through Harvard.

I am accustomed to being in positions of responsibility and I have an excellent working knowledge of our association. I want to challenge myself with a more demanding position. I would like to be given the opportunity to continue to be a voice for our membership as vice-president.
