• The Board of Education met in special session on Thursday, August 4, to inform the community what its approach would be to the news that the SCC would not fund the construction of a new high school and renovations to Andover-Morris. Click here to read more about this meeting.
• August 6 through 12 found PEA leaders in New Brunswick attending the annual NJEA Summer Leadership Conference workshops. President Barbara Alderfer and ten other people attended a total of sixteen workshops over the week-long conference. Click here for more details about what our leaders were up to.

• A court ruling in early August gave the NJ DoE 45 days to put into print its educational plan for the Abbott districts. Click here for more details.
• The 2004-05 NCLB AYP results for NJ schools came out in early August. Click here for more details.
• For the first time in six (6) years, local municipalities will have to contribute to their employees' pension fund plans. Potential funding problems are on the horizon as cash-strapped municipalities attempt to find these extra funds required by law. Click here for more details.
• A new three-year custodial/maintenance contract was approved at the August 22 board meeting. Click here for details.

• Association dues have increased this year for the national, state & county branches. Local dues remain the same. Full-time teachers will pay $44 more while all other full-time personnel will pay an additional $23. Click here to see your dues' rates.
• See you for the start of the 2005-06 school year on Monday, August 29, at 8:30 in the high school auditorium.

• Sep. 1 marks the end of the first 5 year PD cycle. You have till the end of Sep. to get all your paperwork in order.
• Tues., Sep. 6, marks the first day of school for students for the 2005-06 school year.
